It wouldn´t be fair if I feature only the spring trends for girls and not for the boys. So even if kids´ spring runway looks consist of quite varied styles, I took time to identify the trends. Spring 2013 fashion for boys is mostly about reworking the basics, adding some pop of colors and nice patterns, and well, keeping the young men warm on still chilly days with long scarves, jackets, and knitted sweaters. By the way, if it´s still winter in your area, check out the top winter trends for boys.
Stripe Trend for Boys
Spring stripes are probably for everyone – grown up women, young girls, and even boys. There are some cool stripe looks from kids´runway, sweaters and shirts. Because spring is still freezy for most parts of Europe, and maybe in your area too, layer over your boy´s striped top a cozy jacket.
Plaid Tartan for Boys
It´s the season for boys to wear the tartan look once again. Get your son a cool pair of plaid pants or a plaid jacket. There are many ways to style them but they look their best once teamed up with dark colors, very boyish.
Thrown Over Long Scarves
On days when the weather is nicer but the wind could play unpredictable and suddenly blow his chilliness, make sure your boy is wrapped up with a thick long scarf. Although primarily for comfort given that thick scarves give warmth, they can also amp up a simple sweater look with a dose style. Remember to pick the scarf as a complement to the outfit. Go for an orange long scarf if there´s orange color somewhere in the sweater´s print, or pick a green scarf if it matches your son´s green belt.
(Tuxedo) Jacket and Jeans
There are two ways to do the spring jacket-jeans trend for boys. For a dressy look, team a stylish tuxedo with dark wash denim jeans and gray or black shoes, accessorized with a black bow. For a more rugged look, layer a dark blue jacket over a white graphic tee and team with light wash tattered denim jeans and ankle boots. Stick with neutral colors to keep it powerful.
Color Pop Layering
Boys can definitely wear colors too. When doing layering of neutrals, add one bright-colored piece to serve as the highlight. That sneak of bright is what we call color pop. Use a bright vest to layer between a shirt and a jacket, then go for a white or dark pants.
Orange with Neutrals
Orange is also a spring color for boys. It´s especially perfect to blend with neutral colors such as black and (ivory) white. In choosing for an orange number, jeans or sweater, make sure to take the darker shade. Avoid anything in hot orange because once you team it with black, you´ll end up getting an outfit for Halloween.
