Okay, so I´m finally able to fire up this post, winter trends for kids 2013-14. You know, I´ve always meant to write this but I kept on postponing it because analyzing runway trends always takes too much time. I decided to spend my Sunday going through the photos taken from the Global Kids Fashion Week in London last March.
Here are the winter trends for both girls and boys from the runway. A friendly warning though, heavy photos below.
Winter Fashion Trends for Boys
Parka for Boys: From left, BOSS KIDS and Fendi, Nike Look 37.
Needless to say, parka coats and jackets are a winter staple for everyone. This season, however, we´ve been seeing more of dark brown colored parkas for boys.
Colored Jeans for Boys: From left, Anne Kurris and Paul Smith Junior.
Colored jeans for boys remain a strong trend this winter. Dig for chartreuse colored jeans to wear with black, or opt for green skinny jeans to wear with a patterned shirt and tailored blazer.
Vests for Boys: From left, John Galliano and Scotch R’Belle.
Vests are a fashion staple for every boy´s fall and winter staple – young and old – whether it´s a fitted cropped wool vest to wear under a suit, or a parka vest to layer over a sweater to keep his upper body warm.

Dark Brown Jacket: From left, Fendi and Diesel.
Boys also need a sleek jacket that´s neutral enough to work with everything but has that touch of trend. Look for a well made toggle coat with a fur hoodie or a gray wool jacket with black, if not leather, contrast sleeves.
Dress to Impress: From left, Junior Gaultier and Roberto Cavalli.
When it´s time to dress up for special occasions, a suit becomes a must. If he´s wearing a black suit, give it a spin by not adding a tie. Instead, go for a patterned collared shirt to layer under a vest for a nice pop of pattern on an all black look.
Otherwise, choose a gray jacket to wear with a pair of gray jeans. A black bow tie should match his black formal shoes.
Winter Fashion Trends for Girls
Plaid Trend for Girls: From left, Junior Gaultier and Marni.
Plaid is a hot trend of the moment. For grown up girls, we call it the Urban English Trend, for little girls, let´s call it the petite tartan trend. Ok, I just made that term up. Find a chic plaid dress or a plaid sweater for a good update of her winter wardrobe.
Fur Coat for Girls: From left, Kate Mack-Biscotti and Anne Kurris.
Suri Cruise surely loves this trend, fur coat is her thing. Whether it´s a fox, a rabbit, or a lamb fur, or better yet a faux fur, gifting your girl a fur coat will surely elevate her wardrobe with intense style.
Moto Jacket for Girls: Junior Gaultier and Diesel.
Let your young stylista channel her inner rider side, make sure she has a nice moto jacket to wear over a dress or to clash a sophisticated sequined look.
Nude Looks for Girls: From left, Missoni and Chloe.
Nudes – beige, light brown, or peach – is one of the season´s colors for girls. I think this is the most durable trend color of all times.

Chic Colored/Patterned Topper: From left, Supertrash and Paul Smith Junior.
Does your girl have a colored tweed jacket yet? How about an aztec knit cardigan? If your answer is “No”, then now is the time to get her one.
Coat Dresses: From left, Billieblush and Oscar De La Renta.
When it comes to gorgeous winter coats for girls, dress coats are my favorite. This is simply because they´re so ready to wear and are often styled in a very feminine manner.
Peter Pan Collared and Long Sleeved Dresses: From left, Milly Minis and Kickle by AlexandAlexa.
I remember how grown up fashionistas got crazy with the peter pan collar trend in late 2011 and early 2012. Well, guess what? Young girls have an advantage when it comes to rocking the peter pan trend, it just looks cooler and cuter on them. At the runway, we saw that the peter pan collared dresses are also long-sleeved.
Floral print: From left, Paul Smith and Kenzo.
Floral print trend braves the winter but this time, with one or two steps back. You´ll see florals in more muted print but still gorgeous nonetheless. Whether it´s a dress or a jacket, floral print just reminds your girl that when it comes to style, she´s always up to date.
Ahh, there you are … I finally got over this post. Give me a tap on the back, let me know which trend you find new or you want to get for your child this winter through a comment below.
